Kirk Cameron, an American actor best know for his role as Mike Seaver on the television situation comedy Growing Pains was the key note speaker for the 2010 Spring Banquet. Speaking to a sold out crowd of over 2,100, Cameron said that he was astonished to find out that 93% of abortions in the US terminate the life of an unborn child for social reasons—either unwanted or inconvenient. (www.AbortionNO.org)
Cameron said, ‘What must God think of our nation? . . .With a king who will not stand up and oppose the sacrifice of children at the altar of comfort and convenience, where is our nation headed?”
Along with his wife, Chelsea Noble, Cameron co-founded The Firefly Foundation which is a summer camp for seriously and terminally ill children and their families.
Abby Johnson, former director of Planned Parenthood was interviewed by host, Todd Bussey. She told the story of her change of heart from pro-abortion to pro-life. This “change” occurred while Abby was participating in an abortion procedure. She believes this change of heart is a spiritual conversion and is now working alongside with the Coalition for Life. She can regularly be seen praying outside the very building where she used to work.
The Conquerors, Evansville’s own Southern Gospel Quartet provided musical entertainment. The four-part male vocalists filled the Centre with their unique sound that spans all stylistic and generational boundaries.
This annual spring banquet is the signature fundraising event for Right to Life of Southwest Indiana, formerly Vanderburgh County Right to Life.
