The U.S. Senate on Saturday, November 21, 2009 barely cleared an initial 60-vote procedural hurdle, setting the stage for a 2,074-page health care bill, crafted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), to move forward to debate before the full Senate. The followig statement was issued by the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of right-to-life organizations in all 50 states, and may be attributed to NRLC Legislative Director Douglas Johnson.

2,000 Crosses Project

The 2,000 Crosses Project is an endeavor being sponsored by Vanderburgh County Right to Life to help construct 2,000 new crosses for the Cemetery of Innocents which is located off of I-164 between the Morgan Avenue and Lynch Road exits.

You can help defray the cost of the new crosses with a $5.00 or more donation per cross. Checks can be made out to Vanderburgh County Right to Life. A Spiritual Adoption Birth Certificate is attached for you to provide a name for an aborted child. These certificates will be sealed inside each of the crosses. Perhaps you would like to sponsor one cross for each child that you gave birth to or maybe adopt one cross in honor of each of your grandchildren.

Leaders of Vanderburgh County Right to Life joined over 36,000 other pro-life and pro-family leaders to discuss the abortion mandate in the proposed health care reform bills before Congress.

Sharing the stage for the first time were 20 leaders of the pro-life and pro-family movements. The webcast’s goal was to educate the grassroots activists regarding the government takeover of healthcare. Under the proposed health care legislation before Congress, all Americans will be forced to pay for abortions in both public and private plans. Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists will be required to violate their consciences and perform abortions or risk losing their jobs.

Guest speakers included, Douglas Johnson of the National Right to Life Committee, Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family, Dr. Charmaine Yoest of Americans United for Life, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life. The webcast was moderated by David Bereit of 40 Days for Life.

New Gallup Poll: More Americans are “Pro Life” then “Pro Choice”

More Americans identify themselves as “Pro-Life” than “Pro-Choice” according to a new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, 2009. In this poll, 51% of Americans call themselves “pro-life” and 42% of Americans call themselves “pro-choice” on the issue of abortion. Gallup began asking this question in 1995 and this is the first time that the majority of Americans identify themselves as “pro-life”. To read the entire story click here.
